Kylie Liquid Lipstick Review - Are They Worth It?

Hey lovelies!

When Kylie first started teasing us all about her new matte lip collection, I like most others couldn't wait to snag one up for myself. I've always adored Kylie's makeup and it's no secret that her lips always look insane. For Christmas I was kindly gifted one of her gift sets of six mini liquid lipsticks - ecstatic doesn't even make the cut for how I was feeling. These sets are no longer available, however a Kylie Lip kit retails at $29 - quite pricey if you ask me.

The packaging is beautiful, and they are so aesthetic. Despite the annoying flash back they give, making it hard to take cute insta's of them. First world problems right?. They come delivered in tissue paper and a note from Kylie, which is such a sweet touch. However, the actual packaging of the lipsticks damages so easily. I kept mine in the box for the first two months of having mine as I loved it so much, I only recently put them into a lipstick stand. Obviously I've thrown them into my rucksack on the odd day that I wear it. But surely they shouldn't look like I've let my cat use it as a cat scratcher from that?

The colour ranges are stunning and I think Kylie has done an amazing job with launching her own makeup line, her eyeshadows look gorgeous. I'm by no means hating on Kylie in this post, however not everything works for everyone. These may look stunning on your lips, and if I do I'm jealous! I keep trying to give them another chance, however so far I haven't found a way to wear them that is comfortable and makes them last. Any tips would be great!

The formula is matte, like most liquid lipsticks. Now I don't know about you but matte screams long lasting to me? These don't budge once on your lips. That's if you're not eating or drinking that day - yeah right, pass me the fries. I find that even taking a sip of water causes the lipstick to budge or flake off, which isn't a pretty look in my eyes. If you do only wear these for a couple hours, then they are likely to last. However, when I reach for a liquid lipstick it means I'm busy that day and need my makeup to last.I don't have time to keep re-applying. These are a killer to remove and require a lot of scrubbing. I use a cleanser to remove my makeup and still have trouble then! My arm is currently red raw from were I had to scrub off the swatches. These are super drying on the lips and feel heavy too. I personally find this quite irritating and means I don't wear them for more than a couple of hours. I always apply lip palm before using these as I do expect them to be a little drying, but not so much that I can't bear it. The photo below shows what the lipstick looked like after I applied it to my lips and had a drink. It looks awful and this isn't just me having poor application skills.

SHADE EXPOSURE:

I personally feel like I bought more into the brand than the product itself. I think I got over excited about Kylie having a make-up range and I just assumed I would love them. Which I don't. I don't like to be negative on my blog, but these sadly aren't the product for me. I wish they was!

Let me know if Kylie's liquid lipsticks work for you, and if so what's your favourite shade? Mine is Kristen! I think it's gorgeous. I want to try and play around with these because I don't want them to go to waste, maybe adding a little oil into my lips before application will prevent it from being so drying?

My Skin Journey!♥

Hey lovelies!
If you follow me over on my twitter than you have probably seen me tweet endlessly about having horrific skin, something that would knock my confidence massively. I started getting spots around the age of 13, so for almost four years I have suffered with acne. I would never leave the house without a full face of makeup in fear of what others would say. I hated staying away from home because it meant people would see how bad my skin was underneath all the makeup. Around Christmas, it really started to get to me and I had had enough. I had tried all the skincare brands, I've tried sudocream, toothpaste, drinking water, healthy food, exercise. You name it, I've tried it.

I finally went to the doctors about it, and they noticed it had started to scar so they prescribed me with antibiotic cream and pills. I started taking this every evening from the day I got them.  The pill has nothing to do with your period, it doesn't stop your period or affect your menstrual cycle at all so don't worry if you're young like me and worry yoiur parents might think you want it for something else. You have to be prescribed this medicine by the doctors, you can't walk into a shop and buy it. It's worth paying a visit to your doctor because they can give you other advice on your skin whilst you're there too. I was given lymecycline Pills and Duac Gel, these are a type of antibiotic. I haven't experienced any side effects with these.

Here are some before photos, I took these on the evening that I started my skin medication. As you can see, my skin was so red, I had a lot of scars and quite a few big spots. And my skin was at it's clearest at this point! I mainly suffered with acne around my chin, cheeks and jawline. The second photo shows just how bad it could be. I was so self conscious about my skin and all I longed for was makeup free days filled with confidence. I didn't enjoy wearing makeup anymore either because it would look bumpy and I had to use so much foundation to hide my imperfections. When I started my medication I decided to stop wearing makeup to school to help clear up my skin. I quickly noticed that people didn't care if I wore makeup or not, and not wearing makeup also made people notice my skin clearing up even more.

DAY ONE:

I expected to have to wait months to see a real change in my skin, but it only took four days before my skin was clearing up already! The scarring was already going down and I had no new spots since starting my medication. Obviously it wasn't a massive difference but for somebody who had hated their skin for so long it definitely felt like a huge difference.

OVER TWO WEEKS:

I went through a stage where my skin got so bad again, and I almost gave up on the medication because I assumed it wasn't working. However, I am currently sitting my GCSEs so stress levels are high, so stress spots are expected. With this medication it doesn't stop your skin from ever breaking out, obviously you still break out. But I have noticed that my skin hardly ever breaks out anymore.

I have become so much more confident in my skin, and will happily leave home with no makeup on. I no longer sit and cry about having horrible skin, it used to be so disheartening when I would look after my skin so much yet it would still break out like there was no tomorrow.
Last night I was doing my skincare routine and I noticed how much clearer my skin looks, I took some photos and compared them to the ones I took just over a month ago, I'm so happy with how it looks!

NOW:
The top row was taken last night, and the bottom row a month ago.

Obviously I don't have the worst skin in the world, but it definitely used to knock my confidence and was something that I was so self conscious off. Not every method works for everyone, I know for some people the pill and cream won't make any difference but there is always something out there that will work for you. It's a case of trial and error, you have to try lots of different things until you find one that works for you.

If you've found a certain product that helped clear up your skin then leave it down below!

L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover Foundation | Review

Hey beauts.

Recently, I've been on the hunt for a high coverage foundation that won't cost me an arm and a leg, unlike my MAC prolong wear and Estee Lauder Double Wear.  Lately, I've seen a lot of adverts advertising the L'Oreal Infallible Total Cover foundation. Of course, being a lover of make-up I had to pick this up and try it out for myself.

This foundation is marketed as a "full coverage, matte, long wear and weightless foundation". Basically, the perfect foundation for me. What more could a girl with oily, acne prone skin want/need in a foundation? I've tried L'Oreals Infallible range before this foundation and I've loved the other foundations I've tried.

SHADES:
I have fair, pinkish under toned skin. I found it quite easy to find a shade that suited me perfectly. I am shade 12 Natural Rose. Now there is only five shades of this foundation available. Which is quite common for most drugstore foundations, however it has been done before when drugstore brands offer a much wider range of shades. This wasn't a problem for me, but if you have really dark skin then it might be.

PACKAGING & PRICE:
The packaging is slim and not too bulky. It's a squeezy tube foundation, which I don't have an issue with. In all honesty it just looks like most drugstore foundation packaging to me. so there isn't much to say on this front. This foundation costs £9.99, which in the grand scheme of things is on more on the pricey side for a drugstore foundation. They usually cost around the £7 mark. However, this is still really affordable and an absolute bargain.

APPLICATION:
I'm loyal to beauty sponges and always use them to apply my foundation, concealer and any other cream products. So naturally on first try of this foundation I used my beauty sponge. I was super impressed with how it blended and it still looked flawless even though I applied it with a beauty sponge that can often suck up some product. This for me made it a winner because I'm not a fan of how foundation looks when it's blended with a brush.

FORMULA:
The formula is moose like and thick. It isn't runny at all. When you squeeze this onto the back of your hand it feels like it would be quite heavy on the skin. However, it is not heavy on the skin at all! It is most definitely light weight and when I wear this I don't feel like I'm wearing makeup because it's so light. This isn't cakey either and is matte when you first initially put it on, but does become a little duey throughout the day. I would usually be annoyed at this as if a foundation claims to be matte, I expect it to stay matte. But I actually like the finish of this foundation after a few hours. Although it becomes duey it doesn't make my skin look as shiny and disco ball like as others have in the past. It actually gives a really love glow. Obviously I use a mattifying primer and a finishing powder, so this does help with the finish.

COVERAGE/HOW IT WEARS:
Now this foundation is marketed as high coverage, so I was super intrigued to see how actually high coverage this was. So when I first applied it I applied it on half my face only. I was taken back by how high coverage and flawless this is. It definitely doesn't lie on this front. However, I would say that this does make my skin look rather dull and doesn't brighten it. Which does result in me having to go a lil cray cray on the highlighting concealer, but that's not a problem.
Now on the long wearing front, I wouldn't recommend this as an all day foundation because I've worn this all day numerous times before. And by the time I come home the foundation has often come off around my nose and my hairline.  I wasn't surprised by this as my nose is oily and foundation rarely lasts around my nose. I keep this aside as my evening foundation as I find it wears best for a few hours instead of all day. This isn't really ideal as I was looking for a foundation to last all day but I'm still happy with it none the less.

TO CONCLUDE:
I'm super impressed with this foundation. L'Oreal are absolutely killing it with this Infallible range, this isn't my favourite in the range but is definitely up there with one of my favourite drugstore foundations. This is the perfect foundation if you're on a bit of a budget and still want to have a full coverage, flawless look. I definitely recommend this!

I hope you enjoyed this little review. Let me know your thoughts on this foundation if you've also tried it!

Style Picks♥

Hey beauts!

I'm super nervous about today's post because it's my first ever proper fashion post that I've ever done on here. I adore fashion and I enjoy it just as much as make-up, but I've always put off ever writing about it because I have never been the most body confident person, this made me really insecure when it came to taking fashion photos. However, today I decided to bite the bullet and pick out a few fashion pieces I have been loving recently. Please be nice about this post! I hope you like reading about all my favourite fashion bits at the moment. Also please bare in mind I had to take all these photos myself, and right before I did so my camera died so they were taken on an iPhone 6.

First up, a denim jacket! I'm an absolute sucker for denim jackets right now. This particular one is from Primark and was an absolute steal at £12! I got mine a few sizes up so it would be oversized as I love how this looks.I also love to roll the sleeves up a few times to make them 3/4 length so it doesn't completely drown me. I haven't yet been brave enough to try and style out double denim, one thing at a time. However, I have been loving wearing this over play-suits, little dresses and skirts! This has become an absolute staple in my spring/summer wardrobe.

I've posted various photos of this shirt across my social media and always get so many lovely compliments on it. This was a killer to photograph but I think the photos do it justice. This beautiful shirt is from Zara. This is a cropped, bat-wing shirt with the most beautiful embroidery ever. This is such amazing quality and is lightweight too, so perfect for this time of year. This is my go to shirt when someone hits you with that dreaded phrase "jeans and a nice top". Like what does that even mean?! So in most cases I throw this on with a pair of jeans and I'm good to go.

I've never been a hand bag kinda gal, I've always found them so frustrating and could never find one that suited my style. I was browsing ASOS right before Christmas when I stumbled across this rucksack from Aldo. The second I saw it, I knew it was the bag for me. I've always preferred rucksacks as they don't give you that awful shoulder ache. This one is so stylish and minimalist, but is still the perfect size for me to carry all the unnecessary junk around with me that I can't leave the house without.

Would you believe me if I told you these gorgeous boots were from Primark?! Yes I know, you wouldn't ever think it! I saw these in the store a few months back and fell in love instantly. I'm obsessed with the colour contrasts and the chunky heel. These are so comfortable to walk in! I love styling these with jeans or with skirts and tights. These are the perfect boots for a fancy meal if you don't fancy those uncomfortable killer heels that look perfect but cut your feet into pieces.

I saved the wackiest item for last of course! ROSE GOLD VANS?! These are definitely a love or hate item. I adore them. I own the original black and white vans, which I live and die in. But I decided I wanted a pair of shoes that were a little more out there that could add a little something to quite a plain and simple outfit. These do the job perfectly. I wear these with jeans, skirts or plain dresses and it just makes it look like you've made that little bit more effort with your outfit. And if you ask me that's a life saver if you find it so hard to make an effort everyday.

That's everything for today. I really hoped you enjoyed this post. I hope to do more with some help and hopefully make the photos look a lot prettier, but sometimes you just have to make do with what you have.

Let me know which was your favourite.
